Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital
Karbala is a holy city in Iraq about 70 miles south of Baghdad. Karbala has a population of over 1.5 million residents. More than 25 million visitors travel to the city every year for Ziyara (religious pilgrimage). Current healthcare facilities are not able to meet these demands, as hospitals and clinics lack basic equipment and supplies, along with a competent staff. Some Iraqis are able to travel abroad for medical care; however, most cannot afford to even seek services from private healthcare providers within Iraq’s borders.
Therefore, CARF decided to undertake the responsibility of providing the city of Karbala with a fully equipped and specialized hospital to meet the needs of the residents and visitors. In 2007, we began constructing an 8-story, 158-bed hospital in Karbala.
Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital (IHH) opened its doors to patients at its out-patient clinics on May 23, 2017. It took ten years of hard work, perseverance, and overcoming numerous challenges to complete the construction of the hospital and be able to provide the much-needed healthcare services to patients.
